The primary objective of the project is to enhance the competitiveness and efficiency of agricultural enterprises in the region by promoting the system of precision farming. The secondary objective is to give start to the process to make the GAP Region a centre producing technologies and essential information in precision farming.
Activities Conducted
Under the project, a series of meetings held with relevant institutions resulted in a working group comprising relevant units of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Animal Husbandry (i.e. General Directorates of Agricultural Enterprises, Agricultural Reform, and Agricultural Research and Policies), Universities and TÜBİTAK (Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) .
The cooperation protocol and agreement was signed between GAP Administration and TUBITAK Space Technologies Research Institute on December 12, 2014. In this context, the activity plan was prepared and Project Start Meeting and Pilot Zone Determination activities were carried out on 16-18 February 2015 within the scope of project activities. In designated pilot area; collection of appropriate data by various methods (satellite imagery, multi / hyperspectral cameras to be used in aerial platforms, spectrometers; sensors to be used in ground platforms), analysis and interpretation of the collected data have been completed for precision agricultural applications. Participation in the 29th National Agricultural Mechanization Congress and notification of the project was presented. Regarding the use of application software; training programs were implemented for 20 technical personnel working in public institutions and NGOs.
